Craft shows are a magical kind of chaos—the good kind. If you've ever walked by a booth filled with glowing crystals, dancing suncatchers, and rows of colorful wire-wrapped jewelry, there's a lot more behind that display than meets the eye.
At Northwest Gems & Jewels, my craft show prep starts long before the first customer walks by.
Here’s a peek behind the scenes:
📦 Inventory, Inventory, Inventory
Before each event, I carefully review my collections—what’s sold well, what I want to debut, and what needs restocking. I make sure to have a good mix of popular staples (like my zodiac bracelets and fidget rings) and new or seasonal items (hello, celestial suncatchers and wire-wrapped plant stakes!).
🖐️ Every Piece Is Handmade
Unlike larger brands that can order in bulk, I handcraft every single item. This means weeks of creating, polishing, and packaging. Sometimes I’ll even do intuitive pairings—letting the crystal "choose" how it wants to be wrapped.
🛒 Display Matters
My booth setup is intentional. I want people to feel like they’ve stepped into a calming, inspiring space—like a cozy crystal shop nestled in the forest. I use wooden trays, hanging light catchers, moss accents, and hand-written signs to create a natural and welcoming vibe.
✍️ Telling the Story
I always try to include cards or signage that explain what each item is and what energy it carries. Not everyone walking by knows what fluorite or moonstone can do—so I aim to educate as well as inspire.
💬 Connection Over Transaction
Craft shows aren’t just about selling—they’re about meeting people. Some of my favorite moments have come from conversations with customers about what a certain crystal means to them, or why they’re drawn to a particular piece. That connection is why I do what I do.
Preparing for a craft show is part hustle, part heart—and 100% worth it. If you're local and see Northwest Gems & Jewels at a market or show, come say hi! I’d love to meet you, share my work, and maybe even help you find a piece that speaks to your spirit.
Hope to see you soon,
